Dr. Wortz has successfully performed thousands of cataract and laser procedures. With a commitment to quality pre-operative evaluations and surgical counseling, precise measurements, and utilizing the best intraoperative techniques and technology, Dr. Wortz has achieved great results and has continued to grow and expand his network of referring doctors. Beyond clinical and expertise, Dr. Wortz prides himself on creating a customized plan that suits the specific needs of each of his surgical patients. His surgical success is built on listening to patients, precise surgical planning, and delivering on the results. Dr. Wortz enjoys innovations in intraocular lens design and also spends each month instructing UK residents in cataract surgery at the VA hospital in Lexington. His other scholarly contributions have been featured in Ophthalmology Times, EyeWorld, and Ophthalmology Management magazines, and The Journal of Medical Practice Management. He is currently a consulting speaker for Alcon, and has also been a consulting speaker for Carl Zeiss Meditech at both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons annual meetings. Additionally, Dr. Wortz enjoys college sports and is working with local college athletes to help improve their performance and prevent sports related eye injuries. |




Dr. Gary Wortz is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Wortz has spent his entire adult life in Kentucky. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, and then received his medical degree from the University of Louisville graduating with honors in 2004. He then completed his surgical internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Kentucky, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year of training in 2008.
